Partial skeletons of this extremely long-necked saurischianwere found in China. With forelimbs as long as its hind limbs, Euhelopus was unusual-looking for a camarasaurid, which was its original family classification. Further studies have determined that members of this genus, as well as other Chinese sauropodsfrom this time, such as Mamenchisaurus, share enough unique characteristics to constitute a separate sauropod family. The newsauropod family has logically been named Euhelopodidae.
