Order: Saurischia · Suborder: Theropoda · Infraorder: Tyrannosauroidea · Family: Tyrannosauridae (family not firmly confirmed)

Teratophoneus was a tyrannosaurid dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Utah, notable for its relatively short, deep skull compared with some other members of the family. A predator on the ancient landmass of Laramidia, it had powerful jaws lined with robust teeth. Its compact head shape suggests a strong bite, and it would have preyed on the plant-eating dinosaurs of its environment. As one of several tyrannosaurs known from southern Utah, Teratophoneus contributes to a detailed picture of how these top predators varied across western North America.
