Sinoceratops was a large horned dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now China. Its name translates to "Chinese horned face," reflecting both its geographic origin and its membership in the horned dinosaur group. It belonged to the order Ornithischia and the family Ceratopsidae, placing it among the most advanced horned dinosaurs known to science.

Reaching a length of approximately 20 feet (6 meters), Sinoceratops was a distinctive animal. It possessed a single large horn over its nose and a frill lined with small hooked projections along its margin. These features set it apart visually and help paleontologists identify it within the fossil record.

As a herbivore, Sinoceratops would have used its parrot-like beak and rows of grinding teeth to process tough vegetation in its environment. Most ceratopsids are known from North America, making Sinoceratops one of the few members of this family discovered in Asia. Its discovery demonstrated that these advanced horned dinosaurs had a wider geographic distribution than was once thought, providing valuable insight into how this group spread and diversified during the Late Cretaceous.
